Lovely, truly lovely. I have read this in it's various formats over the past couple of weeks and like much of our written wisdom, including Torah, it is more powerful with each read. I am deeply respectful of the fact that you offer your own reflection and can describe your movement from one place to another with grace. When you describe your earlier views of Jewish marriage being about producing children it made me think, really think. Quite apart from the issue of whether Rabbi's will perform the marriage ceremony for same-sex couples, the issue of children interests me. Because another facet of our changing societies is the fact that in our country and province (as in some others), same-sex couples may indeed become parents through a number of different means. It is my deepest wish that all children are wanted and not simply brought into the world out of obligation (religious or otherwise). In our 'new age' we are now in a position not only to officiate at same-sex marriages but also to helping to foster the growth of healthy Jewish families regardless of their sexual orientation.

Thank you Rabbi Moscowitz, for being so open in your writing.

Stepping up to the plate and getting a home run. Good for you, John. I enjoyed reading your sermon so much I am only sorry that I wasn't a the service to hear your sermon live. We were downstairs enjoying Shabbat family style just as we are every Saturday. Thank you for being you and learning that change is possible. We can all learn from this lesson as a community and individuals.

I assume this is for HBT members only, yes?
It would be a terrific series for the larger Jewish community--much of which is struggling with this very issue.

Short. succinct. But what an important blog!! What a thoughtful, kind, gentle way to remind us of many things: the importance of memory, the importance of respect, the importance of our rich roots and better times, and the importance of the "gang of five". Thank you.

You remind what the story of Hannah's passion means -- thank you -- how beautiful. All our Holy Blossom rabbis are continually inspirational in their insights, every single one, just as our cantors every time sing right to the heart. Happy Chanukah, John, and to you all.

Although we do not have a long history here at Holy Blossom we feel a connection with the Temple and its illustrious history. Having said that we also are looking forward to a long history with our family connected to Holy Blossom and this wonderful new Siddur. It feels special to finally have a connection to the future and also a small bit of the past. Thank you to all of you that worked on this wonderful prayer book. With prayer and song this siddur will help us in our continuing faith of Judaism and God.
